Employment

While New Zealand always needs high-quality, well-educated teachers, the job market is particularly buoyant for qualified and registered early childhood teachers.
There are a number of ways you can find a teaching position:
- You can apply directly to early childhood services which are advertising vacancies. This is the most common method used by newly-qualified teachers. Vacancies can be found in the Education Gazette, which is sent to services weekly, or in the Education Gazette Online, and are continuously updated.
- Or you can work through recruitment agencies the Ministry of Education has approved.
- TeachNZ has also established the Auckland Early Childhood Teachers Relief Pool to help ease the shortage of qualified and registered ECE teachers in the Auckland region. The specific purpose of the pool is to support centres during periods when staff are studying or on practicum.
